An Inadequate List Of Thank Yous

Hello Everyone,

Nearly two weeks later, we here at Backstage are finally catching our breath from this years stunning Boston Calling Music Festival! There are so many things that we could talk about–the improvements to the new site in Allston, the amazing sets by so many different musicians, et cetera, et cetera. But we thought that the most important thing that we can say at this time is THANK YOU to several different people and organizations. This year there were quite a few unforeseen logistical issues surrounding our coverage, but our entire team worked together so perfectly to pull this off without a hitch. Even with these issues, we were able to bring you the best Boston Calling coverage that we have ever had, so I would be remiss not to thank as many people as I can.

First on our list are all of those on our amazing production team for this festival–Jack Andrews, Cam Kubera, Charlie Krumsiek and Peter Keough. Without these guys, none of our interviews would have made it to air, so THANK YOU!

A huge thank you to our wonderful artists for taking the time out of their insanely busy schedules to chat with us. This list includes: Mac DeMarco, Whitney, Vundabar, Oh Wonder, Nathaniel Rateliff and The Night Sweats, Brandi Carlile, Strand Of Oaks, Kevin Morby, Piebald, Mondo Cozmo, The Hotelier, Pup and Cage The Elephant. It was a pleasure to host you all and to get your perspective on your art and the world in general.

Another thank you is in order for all of the record labels and artist teams who helped to coordinate and execute these interviews, especially Hannah and Harlan @ The Secretly Group, Paul @ RCA Records, Kathy and Amanda @ Republic Records, Mark and Matt @ Red Light Management, Chris and Lisa @ Columbia Records, Elias @ Concord Music Group, Jamie @ Side One Dummy, Will @ Tiny Engines, Travis from Piebald, and Brandon from Vundabar.

As always, the team from 44 Communications–Chris, Kelsey, Cat, Julie and Alexandra–proved why they are the best in the business. Thank you for making this festival so fun, easy to cover and really accessible to our audience. Of course, we look forward to Boston Calling for the amazing music, but the real highlight of every festival is getting to hang out with y’all for a weekend.

It should go without saying that Chris and Sinead Atwood, as well as Darkman from The Alternative on 95.9 WATD were instrumental in making this all work. Thanks for all you did this weekend, for the great show you put on and for giving me and the artists I work with a platform.

And of course, a major thank you to YOU! Without people like you who support our show, I’d just be some guy with a microphone screaming into the void, so thank you for  listening, sharing and following. It means the world.

You’ve certainly seen quite a few pictures of me and our bands over the past few weeks. Below, you’ll find images of some of the behind the scenes heroes–the members of our amazing crew who helped to make this all work. They are some of the greatest people to work with, and I am lucky enough to call them all dear friends.

Thanks again to everyone who made this work. We’re already looking forward to next year. Onward!

cheers,

g
